Finding A Home For Every Child That Needs One!

As a church, we partner with Home For Good, a charity with the vision to find a home for every child who needs one. Their desire is for every child to have a stable, loving home where they can thrive – and we want to do all that we can to help with this great need.

For children in care, it’s crucial to find the right placement at the right time – whether that’s a short-term foster placement in an emergency, a long-term foster placement or a new adoptive family.

Currently, this isn’t always possible. In the UK there is an urgent need for more than 9,000 more foster families and there are not enough people coming forward to adopt children who wait the longest for adoption – children over the age of four, with additional needs, from black and minority ethnic communities and who are part of a sibling group.

We believe the Church is well-placed to ensure that every child has the home they need, and that families that foster or adopt receive the support that they need.

We believe that the Church is ideally placed to help find families to foster or adopt and to provide an excellent community of support for families who foster or adopt.

As a church, we have many families who either foster, adopt or provide kinship care, and we want to make sure that they are well supported by the wider church family.

Our heart is to do all that we can to help vulnerable children in our community.

The founding director of Home For Good, Krish Kandiah, has written a brilliant book of the same name ‘Home For Good’.

In the book Krish urges us all to take seriously Jesus’ call to ‘suffer the little children’ by engaging with the needs of the many thousands of children up and down the country who are in care and whom the church could and should be helping.

Krish and his wife Miriam have adopted and fostered children themselves and their experience – and that of the many others in this book – is very different from the popular myth which suggests social services seek to prevent Christians from getting involved.

Filled with stories from people who have adopted or were adopted themselves, alongside practical advice on how it all works and the challenges that will come, this book makes a compelling case that the church can and must make a difference in these children’s lives, and asks us all to consider our response.

We highly recommend the book, although be warned, it will have a life changing impact on you! Click here to find it on Amazon.
