Alpha

Ask the tough questions in life with like-minded people.

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone who wants to explore Life and Faith in a safe place through informal conversation. At Alpha we watch a short video and then meet on Zoom once a week for 10 weeks to talk about the video. Alpha is for anyone, whether you’ve been a Christian and want to learn more, never stepped foot in a Church before, or whether you’re unsure on whether God even exists, Alpha is the place for you.

Email alpha@thefoundry.org.uk for more information or if you have any questions. We would love to see you there!

FAQs

Please find below some FAQs. For more information, do get in touch:

1.What does Alpha look like – and is there a meal?

Alpha is a small group run via Zoom (and possibly some in person groups see Q.6) which are hosted by a leader. The group watch a 20 minute video and then discuss the content. People can ask questions and share life stories as much or as little as they want to. No questions are off limits.

Obviously you can’t share a meal virtually, but your group leader will probably encourage you to make a brew, maybe even bring a cake or your favourite snack and enjoy it from the comfort of your own home!

2. I’m not a Christian or a member of the church – I’m not sure I even believe in God. Can I join?

Yes! Alpha is definitely for people who would say they aren’t yet Christians. And if you don’t like it after a week or two, you can simply stop attending. No one will be offended, no one will chase you up. You’re free to come and go as you feel.

3. Can I invite people who aren’t yet Christians to Alpha?

Absolutely! That is the point. We are planning to run Alpha again in Spring, so you may want to go through the course now yourself, so you know what you are inviting people to, or just go for it now! Alpha is all about reaching new people for Jesus.

4. I’ve done Alpha before, can I do it again?

Many people who have done Alpha before say that they learn something new every time. So it’s absolutely worth doing it more than once. And remember, Alpha is really all about reaching new people. So if you’re familiar with the course, you’re in a great place to invite your friends/family/neighbours.

5. I can’t access Zoom – is there an on-site Alpha course?

We are hoping to run an on-site group if the current government restrictions allow. Please let us know if that is your preference. However, we will reserve on-site Alpha for those who can’t access the internet.
