God offers us shelter, in his shadow. For most of us, we don’t want to spend time in somebody else’s shadow – we want to fly, to live our own life, to not be ‘overshadowed’ by someone else. But the shadow of God, which the Psalmist encourages us to rest in (Psalm 91:1), gives strength and focus.
This September, let me encourage you to head into the new normal determined to do it having spent time in the shadow of God, where you can be rested and focussed. His shadow is unlike any other – it doesn’t belittle you, or bring you down, but rather it lifts you up, strengthens you and enables you to see clearly for the road ahead.
