Mark 10:46-52
My all-time favourite animals are Rockhopper Penguins. They embody grit and determination. No matter how many times the waves knock them off the cliffs, they get back up, completely focused on reaching their destination, the formidable cliff tops of the Falklands coast. They remind me of a story of a man that Jesus met called Bartimaeus. You can read about him in Mark 10:46-52. He was knocked down by disappointments and circumstances, but he kept going. He called out to Jesus in his desperation. He knew what he wanted and he boldly asked Jesus for it. His life was never the same again. He once was blind but now he could see. He reached his cliff top.
It is so easy to let circumstances and life pummel our faith but let me encourage you to get back up and believe again. Have faith that your destination is not out of reach. The best is always yet to come for those who follow Jesus. Heaven is the ultimate cliff top.
