Random or Constant?!

John 1:1-5

I love the build up to Christmas, and I particularly love seeing everyone decorate their house with lights! But one thing I’m not a big fan of is the ‘random’ setting on fairy lights, I much prefer the constant setting.

The advent season is a great time to reflect on who Jesus is, but also to pursue our relationship with Him like never before.

John 1:1-14 is an amazing passage of the Bible, it’s the Christmas story in a nutshell. It reminds us that Jesus entered our world as the Light of the World, in order to bring life, to expose darkness and to be our constant light.

Life can be ‘random’ at times, a bit like those annoying fairy lights! We can experience many different seasons, but in the random and the chaos there is one constant, Jesus!

Who or what is your trust in this Christmas? Jesus is our only constant, He will never let us down. He won’t flicker or fade, and His glow is warm and life-giving.

  • Are you in a season where you feel like you’re stumbling around in darkness, whether that’s the darkness of suffering, or the darkness of sin? If so, how does knowing Jesus help? (Read John 1:4-5)
  • How can you pursue Jesus more and know Him as your constant light this advent?

On Sunday we sang a few songs as part of our service. Here is a list of songs for you to have a listen to them during the week.
